Diesel Mechanic

Full Time Permanent Position

Engineering Automotive Engineering $30 - $39.99 per hour

Qualifications & experience

Diesel Trade qualification in vehicle servicing and repair.
Class 2/4 Driver's license.
Competence in service diagnostics, driveline repairs, brake repairs, gearbox and engine repairs. Isuzu experience will be a great advantage.
Preference will be given to those with hydraulic systems diagnostics and maintenance experience and/or experience in automotive electrical/electronic fault diagnosis.
Experience in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Previous experience in servicing, preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of a fleet of trucks will be an advantage.
Knowledge and application of Safety rules and their application to all vehicle/plant operations.
Ability to work in a cross functional team.
Computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office.
Professional working proficiency in English language skills.

Tasks & responsibilities

Ensure legal/safety compliance of all vehicles and plant in line with required schedules.
On call availability for breakdowns.
Rostered work over weekends.
Ensuring vehicle and plant availability for use by identifying vehicles/plant that are in need of repair. Notify the workshop manager, and work unsupervised to carry out repairs, preventative maintenance and servicing of vehicle and plant.
Maintaining vehicles and associated equipment according to our company policy and vendor recommended programs.
Conducting vehicle and body/unit servicing in accordance with our company Preventative Maintenance Program.
Always promote and maintain safe practices.
Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering & hydraulics.
Take care of workshop equipment by following operating/safety instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance; calling for repairs.
Perform regular and on time A & B services.
Maintaining vehicle records by annotating all inspections, servicing, and repairs on the job sheets.

This role would suit someone who has panel beating experience in European vehicle repairs, structural repairs, CAR-O-Line/Celette chassis machine operation and I-Car welding qualifications are essentials.
